This tower is nestled between Nogales, Sonora (Mexico), and Nogales, Arizona (U.S.). It sits less than a block from the location where border patrol agent Lonnie Swartz fired 14 - 30 shots through the border fence into Mexico, killing teenager José Rodriguez. Swartz claimed he feared for his life after teenagers had been throwing rocks at him and other law enforcement agents. The road on the Mexican side sits some 20 feet below the border road in the United States. Swartz was charged with second degree murder for the killing. He was acquitted on the murder charge.
